Family in Orland Park seeking RN to care for 16-year-old boy with autism, seizure disorder, and visual impairment in their immaculate home. Child is well-tempered, non-violent, and very affectionate. Seizures and seizure types vary greatly in frequency and severity.
School Nurse:
This position is split between their immaculate home and school.
Hours consist of Monday through Thursday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (going to school), Fridays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (going to school) and 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the home. Occasional 7:00 am start time on Mondays and Thursdays, with one-month advance notice. This position is for 32 hours plus occasional additional hours form 7:00 am start time, with Saturdays and Sundays off.
Job responsibilities include:
Getting child up and dressed for school;
Riding the bus to and from school with child;
Administration of medications;
Assistance with toileting;
Personal hygiene when required;
Feeding child lunch;
Seizure care; and
One on one nursing care while at school.
HOME NURSE:
Hours consist of Tuesday through Thursday 3:00 pm-11:00 pm and two Sundays a month 12:00 pm-10:00 pm. This position is for 42 hours with Fridays and Saturdays off. Job responsibilities include:
Arrival at home by 2:45 pm to help morning nurse get child off bus and settled in home;
Administration of medications;
Assistance with toileting;
Personal hygiene when required;
Preparation of, and feeding meals; and
Seizure care.
Candidates - for BOTH jobs - must be able to:
Be comfortable around dogs (extremely friendly Golden Retriever and Lhasa Apso);
Swim proficiently;
Have knowledge of technological devices (computer, IPhone, IPad);
Be flexible;
Be on-time;
Have reliable transportation;
Be willing to interact with child;
Looking for a long-term position; and
Be a team player with other nurses on the team.
