Cantonese/Vietnamese Speaking Social Service Case Worker:
Looking for a challenge while giving back to society during this time of stress to most Americans? Provide social services to Southeast Asian and other immigrants as well as needy families in the northeast Chicago port of entry. Position requires understanding of Southeast Asian cultures and patience/ empathy with clients whose education, English, and knowledge of American culture is limited. Your job will involve identifying available resources and helping needy clients to apply for needed services. The position also requires some targeted multimedia outreach to such clients, some social work counseling, referrals, reporting to and interaction with funders, etc. Accuracy is of the essence to assure clients' access to programs. Written and spoken articulateness in English is required to make reports, file appeals, and write correspondence to funders. Written and spoken Cantonese or Vietnamese is required to interpret or explain complex human service system. Most importantly, a genuine caring for people with a sensitivity for others would round out the perfect applicant for this position.
Full Time; paid holidays, personal/sick/vacation days; $200/month bonus; training opportunities, working in a beautiful historic landmark.
Qualifications in Sum: M.A. or B.A. in social work or social sciences, high degree of fluency in spoken and written Vietnamese and, or Cantonese as well as English; work and life experience, strong clerical, computer and people skills.
Salary commensurate with academic/linguistic qualifications and experience.
