Modis Inc. is in search for multiple

Data (SW) Engineers to design, develop, and deliver a variety of batch and streaming data pipelines. This will provide an opportunity to rub elbows with some of the best engineers in the country from our client's home office in

Chicago, Illinois. As a

Data Engineer you should be comfortable working with large datasets building resilient batches and pipelines, high throughput streaming systems, and partnering with other internal teams such as Engineering, Product and Project Management, & other various business groups to ensure the data you provide is given in a timely and usable manner.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and stabilize batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Create and maintain documentation of the technical detail design, operational support and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with development, architecture, reporting, and regulatory standards throughout entire data pipeline.
  • Collaborate with other SME's to gather requirements and gain an understanding that allows you to build and deliver new data-related processes and/or reports.
  • To be considered you must know or have the following experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in the design and development of data pipelines and tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting performance issues and fine-tuning queries.
  • Experience extracting data from relational and document databases.
  • Experience consuming data over HTTP and in formats such as HTML, XML, and JSON.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a version control system (such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, etc).
  • Proficiency in Java or Python programming languages.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing platforms, such as Redshift, Snowflake, SQL Server, etc.
