JOB TITLE: Director, Accounting and Finance

SALARY CLASS: Salary, Exempt

LOCATION: Corporate Office – Champaign, IL

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Administration

Objective/Summary:

Responsible for the overall strategic planning, administration and evaluation of the Accounting and Finance department. Proactively delivers forward-looking management reporting and leadership to achieve business financial targets.

Essential Functions:

Ensures the accounting department is adequately staffed with qualified personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities of the department. Responsible for continued development of these associates.

Implements, manages and maintains a system of internal accounting procedures, reports and workflows/controls that will ensure that financial health and company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and US GAAP.

Represents the best financial interests of College Fresh as a member of the Corporate Leadership Team and uses his/her analytical skills to suggest accounting process changes in keeping with strategic objectives, using company financials to formulate and recommend/initiate innovative solutions to accounting/finance issues after interpreting complex financial data and

Understands the relationship and complex systems, importing tools that relay accounting information from HRIS System and Vendor Imports into our Accounting Platform (currently involves Paycom, Intacct, Expensify, and other large vendor imports)

Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance. Has responsibility for proper timing and application of revenue recognition rules, which involves significant interaction with Sales and Customer Service groups.

Supervises and/or coordinates with external accounting staff (currently Clifton, Larson and Allen – CLA\ and Avalara/Avatax) to ensure the timely and accurate completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation.

Other Functions:

Represents Accounting function as a member of the Corporate Leadership Team. Participate in weekly, team agility calls, retreats and other meetings.

All other duties as assigned (as directed and/or agreed upon by the President and Vice President, Administration).

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is responsible for direction and leadership of the Business Manager, Accounts Payable Specialist and Data Analyst.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. This position works primarily daytime hours, Monday through Friday; however, some evenings and weekends are required.

Work Environment:

This position is based at the Corporate Office and functions in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and customer-service focused environment.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Travel:

This position requires frequent travel across the assigned region incorporating overnight stays with little advanced notice and for extended periods of time. Up to 50% travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Accounting/CPA.

Five-ten years of combined Public Accounting and/or Private Industry accounting experience within a nationwide business.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting. Willingness to learn new systems, i.e. Intacct. Proactively learn, train and research Intacct and other systems.

Working knowledge of computers and relevant software application as it relates to the accounting and other company departments (i.e. Microsoft Office, HRIS and applicant tracking software etc.)

Proven leadership skills, exhibiting initiative and independence, with the ability to use sound, ethical judgment in decision making.

Exceptional time management skills with the ability to work on multiple items simultaneously and prioritize conflicting needs, expeditiously handling matters proactively.

Detail orientation with strong organization, interpersonal and relationship building skills, effectively working as part of a team.

Personal qualities of integrity, commitment and dedication consistent with the College Fresh mission, vision and core values.

Ten years exceptional customer service experience, with particular attention to both professional and courteous verbal and written communications.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans within a food service environment desirable.
