Volt DTS division has an immediate opening for a Metallurgical Engineering Analyst to work onsite with our customer in Decatur, IL in a long term contract position. This position will be working in a metallurgical laboratory setting. The Decatur Metallurgical Lab processes 250-300 labs/monthly supporting both production operations, product design and supplier quality. You would be immersed in a variety of metallurgical engineering projects at a time, but have experienced engineering in supporting and training as needed. You will provide to support to six different product lines including Production shop support, Heat treat set-up and Development, Incoming Quality Evaluations, Production NDE, Metallurgical Analysis, and Failure Analysis, as well as other facilities. Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science is idea, will also consider Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
  • The candidate must be able to understand the processes and results of various chemical processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Prefer hands-on solid experience in industrial and chemical processes related to material selection, and preferably metallurgical analysis.
  • Additionally, knowledge of metallurgy processes, including heat treating, steel composition, thermal and mechanical properties of various iron and carbon alloy steels would be helpful.
  • This position is located in Decatur, IL, interested candidates MUST be able to relocate at their own expense.
