Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree in Computer, Electrical or Software Engineering from a nationally accredited university.
  • A minimum of 6 years of hands-on development of embedded solutions in C or C.
  • Experience with bare-metal programming and hardware/software co-design of embedded systems.
  • Experience with CAN/J1939, data communications (ethernet, bluetooth).
  • Experience with applications of DC motor motion control in industrial automation, robotics, automotive, is desirable.
  • Experience with HDL languages (VHDL, Verilog) as well as assembly is a plus.
  • This individual must be a crisp and clear communicator
  • As a senior engineer this individual is a representative of the company and must be capable of direct correspondence with external parties like vendors, bus manufacturers, transit agencies, etc. via remote means (phone calls, instant messaging, teleconference) as well as face-to-face meetings if required
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, etc. is expected
  • Ability to write technical documentation for publication within and outside the organization that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Job Description:
  • Deliver on multiple projects simultaneously under fast-paced development lifecycles
  • Act independently with limited supervision to complete small to moderate scope projects
  • Ensure schedule and performance objectives are met for each project
  • Evaluate technical options and make decisions with mid to long-term impact on product with justification
  • Push for innovation by researching and staying on top of trends in new embedded software and electronics concepts and strategies
  • Work with external stakeholders (transit bus manufacturers and transit authorities) to solicit requirements, and eventually integrate and validate new product designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal resources (sales, marketing, testing, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, mechanical and electrical engineers) to solicit requirements, design, implement, test & prototype technical solutions
  • Provide post-production support and track field defects, with an end goal of continuously improving the performance and reliability of the product
  • Work with third party vendors and/or partners to develop product solutions
  • Develop internal electrical and software test plans that meet both company and industry regulations
  • • Work with management/supervisors to push for and implement system and software process updates
  • Design, develop, code, test, debug, release and deploy software in C and C, in line with common software development practices
  • Propose designs, present and be able to review electrical hardware/embedded electronic system designs at the schematic level
  • Review code, present changes and participate in peer reviews, present system concepts, detailed designs, and participate in product stage gate reviews
  • Interface with mechanical and embedded electrical hardware designers to implement a robust embedded solution
  • Comply with Wabtec's design control and stage gate processes.
  • Report status of assigned projects to major stakeholders and management
