Principle Systems Engineering Architect

Job Description

The Principle Systems Engineering Architect will be responsible for defining system/subsystem architectures of automotive products with electromechanical, mechanical, and electronic content. Working across divisions, the system engineer will facilitate system-level understanding and support the evolution of the next generation of smart products for the automotive market.

• Defining system architecture by developing functional, technical and test specifications of a component/subsystem and its elements.
• Generating functional and technical requirements for products and /or subsystems.
• Developing specifications for electronics HW and embedded software.
• Working with divisional engineering teams in developing a product from concept thru production.
• Active engagement with engineering teams in all aspects of product development activities starting with customer specification review, product specification, functional requirements definition thru development of manufacturing specifications.
• Working with strategic sourcing to assess the capabilities of suppliers and/or developers.
• Participation in manufacturing specification development from a submodule (element) to a “box build” belonging to the defined specific architecture.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) required
• At least 10 years of combined experience in developing Electronic products having mechanical, electromechanical and electronics contents in a team environment in Automotive, Aerospace, or/and Industrial businesses.
• At least 5 years in hardware and embedded software development and system definition including: Hardware development to include electronics design, PCBA design and prototype manufacturing, test and qualification; Very much knowledgeable in semiconductor technology and its limitations (Bipolar, CMOS). Efficient in use of PCBA schematic capture, parts list generation and layout (Cadence or similar). Experience with technically managing electronics manufacturers; Understanding DFMEA process.
• At least 3 years in software development role with the use of common SW languages (C, C, C#, Python…) including requirements analysis, design, code development, integration and test of embedded applications. Also provide technical support towards integration issues during debugging and troubleshooting activities.At least 2 years in product Test assuring product specification is met and ensuring products/projects delivered meet customer requirements.
• Electronics hardware and software experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
• Global awareness and willingness to travel up to 40%, both domestic and international
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

• Demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams
