Job Summary:

The Product Owner will play a significant role in the Agile development process as the key stakeholder for assigned product(s). He or she will report to the Agile Manager, and will be responsible for managing assigned projects or products in an agile-based environment. The Product Owner will be expected to understand and champion the vision of the products, serving as the biggest advocate for the end-users and stakeholders while working closely with Development, Product, Field and Sales/Marketing teams. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Project Manager, Business Analyst or Quality Assurance in a technical capacity and have knowledge of Lean principals.

The Product Owner collaborates with Business Owners and end users on requirements, business value scoring and success metrics. The Product Owner drives the requirements gathering process that accurately reflects business needs which includes: risk analysis, “as is” and “to be” process documentation, agnostic of a specific technical solution. The Product Owner will also act as a change manager, helping to successfully drive change in the organization.

Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Working with the business to understand the business need, with a focus on future state, and evaluate the best solution within the desired platform.
  • Work closely with the vendor solution architects/administrators to understand the GAP analysis of current state features to future state features.
  • Collaborate with the agile teams discussing business value, user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Acts as business expert and makes decisions that align with expectations of business units and goals
  • Creates user stories and acceptance criteria, other team members may participate in this exercise
  • Select the appropriate project methodologies to deliver value to the customer while minimizing risks
  • Responsible for collaborating with Business Sponsors to proritize the backlog
  • Has detailed knowledge of business unit strategy and goals and leads Agile team with effective decision making that affect delivery of solutions
  • Attends Stand-up Meetings
  • Leads Sprint planning sessions
  • Leads Backlog grooming sessions
  • Develops organizational change management framework; communication, training, and post implementation support.
  • Writes user stories and for business level (feature group/functional success metrics) and acceptance criteria.
  • Gather information, sort through issues, seek input from others, develop accurate conclusions from findings, and make timely decisions to prioritize and adapt to change

  • Ability to create clear and concise documentation and seek appropriate approvals

Skills and Aptitudes:

Able to:

  • Work proactively on customer issues and resolves them in a timely manner
  • Communicate at both the business and technical level (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders at the department or division level
  • Juggle multiple issues, set expectations and prioritize accordingly
  • Research and respond to customer questions
  • Navigate complex situations involving multiple parties

Familiar with:

  • General Business Processes (Sales, Training, Service, Support)
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Business Applications (CRM) and Automation
  • Salesforce Core product and features
  • Force.com features and capabilities
  • Internet Architecture and Cloud Computing Concepts
  • General IT (database, security, networking) concepts and basic programming concepts

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Facilitation experience required
  • Leadership and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle changing priorities

Experience and Education:

  • Two to four years of experience with Agile development methodology
  • Four years Business Analysis experience
  • One to two years in the following roles: consulting, analysis, functional lead, project management
  • Proficiency with Agile methodologies, SCRUM, Kanban, Lean
  • Experience with LMS, CRM and CSM platforms
