Job Description - Infrastructure Architect
Infrastructure Architect / Engineer We are working with a global logistics located in the NW burbs of Chicago. They are currently looking for a "jack of all trades" Infrastructure Architect/Engineer to work directly with the Director of Infrastructure. Working in collaboration with and directing other engineers, the position has the responsibility for driving data center and Azure design and implementation by translating business requirements into repeatable design strategies that are adaptable, scalable, and provide high availability. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing a new DR and Back up Solution, lead the move to Azure and upgrade their Cisco and Meraki environment. The position requires providing vision, points of view, execution, network hardware selection, and point solutions for data center and other infrastructure solutions that support critical information technology systems and key business applications.Responsibilities- Develop and deliver detailed network engineering diagrams, complete technical documentation, and develop change scripts, using various tools such as; MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Visio and other tools.
- Lead and participate in the planning, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure projects.
- Initiates, facilitates and promotes activities to create network engineering awareness within the organization.
- Understand network trends and best practices within the industry and align them within company business directives.
- Work with the Director of Infrastructure and other stakeholders
- Lead the data center transformation and clean up
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Information Technology or equivalent work experience, education, or training preferred.
- Cisco and Cloud Certifications and other industry recognized IT network/security related certifications a plus.
- Experience architecting and designing a new DR and Back-Up Solution
- Experience implementing Azure or other cloud solutions is highly desired
- SD-WAN implementation a huge plus
- Experience working with cloud providers specifically focusing on network connectivity
- Citrix NetScaler is a very nice plus
- Data Center design and architecture
- Strong Business Acumen.
- Ability to resolve conflict, drives project completion, and collaborates with other teams.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- A consulting background is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and creative thinking capabilities.
- Ability to align business requirements into technical requirements.
- Experience with Software Defined Data Center technologies a plus.
