We help researchers solve some of the world’s largest and most complex problems with our unique combination of supercomputing resources and computational science expertise.We invite you to apply for a Computer Scientist position with the ALCF. You will perform research and development in computational tools and methods for scalable scientific data visualization and analysis on high-performance computing systems. Work with scientific researchers using the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility’s supercomputing resources and facilitate scalable visualization and analysis of their data from these systems. Contribute to the facility’s direction on future architectures and software tools for scientific data analysis and visualization.Position Requirements:

Comprehensive knowledge in parallel large-scale data analysis and visualization, including one or more of the following: Scientific visualization; Visual analytics; Particle rendering; Volume rendering; Remote visualization and streaming.

Comprehensive knowledge of one or more libraries and tools such as vtk, vtk-m, ParaView, VisIt, GLSL, CUDA, MPI, OpenMP, OSPRay, OpenSWR.

Considerable experience with high-performance computing clusters such as multi-core CPU architectures and GPU-based systems.

Comprehensive knowledge in C/C programming under Unix/Linux, as well as scripting languages including Python.

Considerable experience in collaborating with application science teams for scientific visualization.

Considerable experience with in situ visualization techniques and tools.

Considerable collaborative skills, including the ability to work well within the division, with other divisions, laboratories, vendors and universities.

Considerable knowledge of software development practices and techniques.

Good communication skills both verbal and written.

The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (RD2 or RD3) dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills brought to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience. The basic requirements of the various levels are as follows:

RD2 Requirements: Bachelor’s and 5+ years; Master’s and 3+ years; Doctorate and 0 years, or equivalent.

RD3 Requirements: Bachelor’s and 8+ years; Master’s and 5+ years; or Doctorate and 4+ years; or equivalent.
