Job Description
The Junior Network Administrator works together with the IT Administratorto provide computer and technology support to company employees while helping ensure that the company network is functioning properly and up to date.
The entry-level position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to follow clear instructions and an interest in computers, networking, and peripherals.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping install, operate, and maintain computer networks and communication systems
- Troubleshooting company hardware and software
- Monitoring, managing, and answering questions regarding the current computer network.
- Configuring hardware and software
- Setting up peripherals such as printers or routers
- Making repairs to equipment
- Providing daily support for computer network users.
- Answer Help Desk calls and e-mails regarding the computer network or communication systems.
Additional tasks include writing reports, tracking inventory, evaluating new technologies, and developing contingency plans in case of network failure. The IT assistant may also work on other projects, such as web design or Internet security as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field or equivalent technical training and on-the-job experience
- Knowledge of computer networking systems
- Solid understanding of computer hardware and software
- Knowledge of and/or certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, or Oracle preferred
Additional Information
Pay rate is $15-$18/hr
