DescriptionIf you're looking to build your career in accounting, there's currently a Staff Accountant position through Accountemps that you may want to check out. Located in the Mchenry, Illinois area, this long-term temporary-to-full-time position is an engaging, multi-faceted opportunity where hard work is rewarded. Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.Responsibilities
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Requirements
Vow to meet business deadlines
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Efficient in ERP systems
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Great attention to detail
Cost accounting experience preferred
Bank reconciliations experience
General ledger experience highly desired
Solid understanding of month end closings
Ledger Journal Entries experience preferred
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
