Kelly Scientific is seeking a direct hire Product Development Chemist for Hair Colors in Melrose Park, IL!Direct Hire PositionMonday- Friday 8:30am-5pmResponsibilities:

With minimum supervision, plan and initiate assigned projects relating to product development in permanent and semi-permanent color hair care areas.

Must be able to use R&D equipment related to color evaluations in the laboratory first and then the test salon.

Must be able to use Hunter lab values for color evaluation and color changes.

Work in cooperation with test salon personnel to evaluate new and improved products.

Writing of reports, status and progress of project assigned.

Conduct instrumental product performance testing using the Data Color Monitor, Rheometer, Particle Size Analyzer, and other related equipment. This includes the calibration and balancing of the instrument.

Perform computer work such as data entry and transformation using the Excel spreadsheets.

Maintain current technical awareness in Permanent/Semi Permanent hair care technology.

Maintain cleanliness in their respective work areas and observe proper work safety habits at all times.

Handle other related duties as assigned and assist other R&D personnel as needed.

Must get involved in the process development of newly formulated color product.

Must be willing to travel when needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor degree in chemistry, but a Master’s degree of Science in Chemistry/Color Chemistry from accredited university or college is preferable.

3-4 years of experience in dyes – personal care or paint

Must have a strong background in Scientific Research method and analysis and be knowledgeable in chemistry of hair colors such as oxidative dyes, semi-permanent dyes, and direct dyes.

Must be familiar with hair bleaching.
