Job Description

Responsibilities:

Aiding in the following areas:

  • Assist in the configuration of security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
  • Assist in the creation or update of technical documentation for network installations and changes to existing installations.
  • Evaluating local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Training users in procedures related to network applications software or related systems.
  • Assist in the identification/remediation of user end issues regarding proprietary company applications.

Troubleshooting responsibilities:

  • Documents help desk requests and resolutions through JIRA ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot network or connectivity problems for users or user groups.
  • Identify the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Test computer software or hardware, using standard diagnostic testing equipment and procedures currently in place.
  • Provide telephone/video conference support related to networking or connectivity issues.
  • Test repaired items to ensure proper operation.
  • If necessary, escalate issues to manager.

Maintenance responsibilities:

  • Install network software, including security or firewall software.
  • Install new hardware, software systems or components, ensuring integration with existing network systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking components or equipment.
  • Utilize imaging software to ready company PCs for distribution.
  • Monitor industry websites or publications for information about patches, releases, viruses, or potential problem identification and if applicable bring any findings to Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
  • Preferred certifications include CompTIA Network+, MCSA, CCNA but are not required
  • Have ability to work multiple tickets simultaneously and manage time carefully
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical support, help desk, network support position
  • 2-3 years application support experience
  • Strong foundational knowledge of server hardware, server operating systems and networking
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills
  • Desire to increase skill set and knowledge

Additional Information

  • This position will be the primary contact for system issue requests and thus requires availability via phone, email, or video chat between the hours of 7 AM – 11 PM, 7 days a week with an occasional overnight for network/server/application maintenance. However, the standard workweek will consist of M-F 8:30 AM-5:30 PM, with rotating on-call weekends.
  • This position will be roughly 50% Remote / 50% On-Site
  • This position is always required to have a company-issued laptop available between the hours of required availability to assist company employees whenever needed.
  • This position will be allowed an education credit for knowledge advancement and will be required to complete at least 2 certifications of the CompTIA track within the first year of employment.
