These two openings are for long-term contract positions for a Network Engineer. Will consider both contracts for extensions and conversions to perm. The manager's preference is to convert to perm within the first year on contract.ONLY candidates local to the Chicago/Naperville area will be considered. Team is currently remote but may return to the Naperville office around early 2022.Pay range for this position is $29-33/hr on W2. This team provides support M-F 5am-9pm, the schedule would fall between those hours. During the training period, schedule would be M-F 8-5 and then would adjust to the needs of the business to either 5- 8 hour shifts or 4- 10 hour shifts. They have several shift bids throughout the year.

Project:o Managed services, test/turn up day 1 service and activation serviceo All of their front line employees are Eng 1’s and turn up based on design§ Fortune 100 or 500 customers§ A few hundred – 15 thousand sites they could stand up for a client§ Could be as simple as setting up a circuit or as complex as multiple meraki devices, vpn tunnels or moreo Much configuring is done manuallyo Some plug & play to pre-config and ship outo Voice, security, traffic transport, general connections out to menu boards outside as wello Their customers- a variety. Fast food- big chains here, retail, grocery, banks, and gov.§ Members of their team have certifications or are working on them for various vendors

Skills:o Want some background in network engineering§ Not much with GUI’s, more generic logging into portals and troubleshooting/configuringo Familiarity with vendors- meraki, cisco, Fortinet, cradle point, aruba, juniper, and more new ones all the timeo Have a natural curiosity and ability to think on feet to troubleshooto Read/understand designso 2-3 years of some kind of networking experience; could be open to those with much more experience if they are looking to get their foot in the door and want to work their way up§ If they have certs but not much for real experience would be considered too.o Basic networking equipment understanding and what all the parts do. WAN, LAN, VPNo CCNA is not required but a bonus for this role

Day to day:o Will be virtual. Wouldn’t return to the building until January 1st at the earliest.o If they did 100 installs, 80 of them would likely be fast food or restaurants and can still be quite complex.o Approach varies customer to customero Work hours- 8 hour shift M-F between 5am-10pm. 80-90% of customers need work done between 7-11am. Expects in most cases the shift would be morning/early morning. Around 2/3 of their staff is already working by 5:30amo They have a video portal for training and getting up to speed§ They release new videos at least once/month§ General training is a few weeks with another week of shadowing

Team:o Who they work with- a source technician (3rd party)- this is who they’d communicate with onsite

Duration:o Said they will consider both extensions as well as conversions to FTE, they are assessing their size needs due to work increaseso Dept as a whole is at a deficit, so they do expect some conversions to fte.
