- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Graduate coursework is desirable.Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in applying design standards including ASME Y14.5, ISO and other National, International, and Industrial standardsGeneral knowledge of dimensional metrology and/or an applied technology in that field.Able to interpret, test and establish measurement methods of 1, 2 and 3 dimensional applications using contact and non-contact computer controlled CMM’sUnderstanding of measurement applications, sampling effects and weighted distribution effects on measurement algorithms.Ability to apply advanced concepts and understanding of mathematical concepts (e.g., significant experience training/mentoring engineers in applying concepts in ASME Y14.5.1).Use and specification of precision measurement equipment in a metrology environment,development and/or application of standards,project management utilizing cross-functional teams including customers and/or suppliers,technical writing of specifications and proceduresASME Certified Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional, Senior level.Able to use professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters.Able to exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively within a team environment.Ability to work independently in analyzing and implementing solutions to problemsWilling and capable of Global travel to client sites, suppliers, conferences, etc. throughout the year.
- Supports optimum design of fixtures, tooling, machines, sensors, and measurement systems through interaction and working relationships with Design Engineering (product and machine)Assists in setting the direction in dimensional metrology and applicable engineering principles in support of current and future products and processes.Responsible for the development and standardization of mechanical inspection and measurement methodologies and operator training.Assesses metrology equipment capabilities as well as assisting in the procurement and implement new equipment as needed.Identifies technology gaps and develop technology plans to support the current and future specification needs.Applies advanced concepts and understanding of mathematical definitions of GD&T (e.g., ASME Y14.5.1) and their implications to support design intent (of product, tooling, machine)Influences the supplier base by evaluating and aligning supplier measurement capabilities as they relate to our products requirements.Develops and maintains expertise standing in the field of dimensional metrology through networking, research, and continuous education.
