Manufacturing Engineer!

This is a 4-month contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion In this role, you will be an end-to-end owner that designs, executes, and delivers portions of General Assembly conveyance systems, automation cells, process equipment/tooling, and processes.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Integrate new vehicle models and variants into existing facilities
  • Implement line re-rate projects
  • Assist in the development of assembly process flow, build sequence and logistics strategies to optimize for direct labor, quality, safety, and other KPIs
  • Manage equipment suppliers/partners during RFQ, design, buy-off, installation, commissioning, and ramp up
  • Develop and execute equipment qualification plans including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK), and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R)
  • Ensure achievement of safety, quality, cost, timing & performance targets
  • Provide regular, metric-based project updates to the management team.
  • Challenge assumptions that are not backed up by a thorough engineering evaluation
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) studies and feedback to Product Design teams, drive content reduction and simplifications
  • Lead new product virtual builds and participates in early prototype builds to validate manufacturability and processes
  • Support systems integration and automation - PLM, SAP, MES, etc

Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to automated equipment or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience optimizing existing processes for rate, yield, availability.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and processing principles (cycle time analysis, quality control, equipment efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, error proofing, ergonomics, material logistics).
  • Knowledgeable in high and low-volume manufacturing (proto-typing, OEE, equipment selection, DFM, CAD)
  • Experience working in both 2D & 3D CAD environments
  • Knowledge of robot automation cells, conveyance systems & controls automation.
  • Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) experience - Design, Facilities Prep, Tooling Validation a plus
  • MIG (GMAW) Weld experience is strongly desired
