Summary: . We are hiring a Network Security Engineer. We are looking for a Network Security Engineer who has taken security network solutions from deployment to operationalization. The ideal candidate for this position should have hands on experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) / Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). We have a project to implement a passive listening device that acts like an IDS but also collects data about the digital devices talking on the network. Knowledge of IT networks (design and protocols) and asset discovery and management. The candidate would need to be able to articulate how DNS, SMB, HTTP, and FTP work. Primary Responsibilities:The candidate would need to be able to articulate how DNS, SMB, HTTP, and FTP work. They should be able to identify which packet in a capture is responsible for causing an IDS/IPS to alert the administrator. The candidate will have experience to recognize how to tune the IDS/IPS solution to amplify relevant alerts, while deprioritizing less important alerts. They will help end-users adopt the provided network monitoring solution and optimize their usage. This will be accomplished through personalized working sessions with multiple technical site contacts.Additional Skills:-5 years Network Security Experience-Able to create network diagram from scratch and interpret existing network diagram-Ability to create Span ports/port mirroring-SSH to access network equipment to do preparation for device installations-Scripting (Python, REST API) for data mining-The candidate should have very good communication skills written and verbal:-Writing is very important to this role. This person will need to document the process and procedures and create playbooks/runbooks.-Refining and presenting metrics and status to executive level leadership will also be paramount in this role.Vacancy expired!
