Job Description Responsible for the technical development of software engineering staff within a Discover application development area while using your technical expertise to drive vision into action and results.As a Manager Software Engineering you will be responsible for the technical development of software engineering staff, while using your technical expertise to drive vision into action and results. The role is in the Infrastructure Services organization where you will be focused on building and developing a world class, high performing team of engineers who work on developing and supporting Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) Application Run time. If you're a hands-on Servant Leader and technical Subject Matter Expert, keep reading!This Manager role plays a critical part in the development of their engineering team on the Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) Platform and will take the lead on effectively skilling, tooling and allocating engineering members to best support the needs of the Product teams. Responsibilities- Hire, retain and lead high-functioning, diverse group of engineering professionals, establishing clear objectives and key results, developing consistent set of practices and process across the team and driving towards resolution of challenging problems. This includes all performance management aspects of leading the engineers including acquiring and providing 360 feedback and administering reviews.
- Mentor staff of engineers in both technical and soft skills to craft a team of highly technically competent, consistent, thoughtful and customer-centric technology experts. This includes ensuring the group is adhering to principles of engineering excellence within their technical domain, applying consistency of technical execution, sharing common practices and challenges within the Chapter and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the Chapter.
- Lead and shape the technical vision within their domain and be an essential member of leadership team including acting as a leader in the Discover engineering community affecting and advancing the architecture across the company and ensuring adherence to all regulatory, compliance and audit requirements. This includes defining how technical work should be done, selecting appropriate tools, defining technology, quality, experience and implementation standards and practices within own technical domain.
- Work with key stakeholders to efficiently and effectively allocate chapter team members to product teams to meet business and Product area objectives.
- Engage with internal and external communities of practice to share experiences, contribute knowledge, learn and advocate for the Discover Technology brand. Promotes team innovation and collaboration of ideas across teams.
- Contribute as an engineer within a product team designing, developing and maintaining quality technology solutions for a product or set of products including developing own subject matter expertise.
- Bachelors' Degree in Information Technology
- 4 + years experience with Application Development or related
- 6 years In Lieu of Education Application Development or related
- 4+ experience in People Leadership and Development or related
- At least 1 to 2 years of working with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes/Openshift and cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP or others.
- Basic understanding and experience of key technologies to be leveraged by the team including Java applications, CI/CD technologies, Ansible, terraform, Go lang
- Understanding of observability and how to achieve reliability in a service.
- Experience working with one or more tools like Sysdig, Elastic search, Filebeat, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, Instana, splunk, AppDynamics is a plus. #LI-BG1 #Remote
