The candidate will define, maintain, document, implement, and test software requirements for the secondary power distribution products.Remote:This position is located in Rockford, IL and the opportunity to work remotely will be considered

If remote, need to have the ability to travel up to 10% to work with team

Primary Responsibilities:

Working in a team environment, sometimes including remote team members, engaging in full life-cycle development (plan, requirements, design, verify, certify/qualify) of electric power distribution and conversion systems, typically done in C, and certifying to aerospace standards (DO178B/C is typical, Design Assurance Levels A to C).

Participate in software discipline council improving and adapting standard work and department practices.

Measure and analyze software designs for equipment/products to ensure current and future needs of the business are met.

Build and implement procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and functions.

Operate equipment and computer systems for testing and software design purposes to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives are achieved.

Design, develop, document, conduct test and debug control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.

Perform timing, memory, stack usage analysis.

Determine end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.

Ensure hardware and software standards are met.

Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and use.

May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.

Basic Qualifications:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR

Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR

In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or similar discipline

Experience with software architectures and the C coding language

Experience communicating to review boards both internally and externally

Experience working in a cross functional team

Full life cycle software development experience, requirements analysis through HW/SW integration & test

Experience with quality software development processes

Creating controller models using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow

Integrate MATLAB/Simulink control

Working experience with Built-In-Test Equipment (BITE)

Experience with Telelogic Synergy, Telelogic Rational DOORS, and Matlab

Knowledge of Collins secondary distribution products
