Location - Rosemont, IL / Remote Our client is looking to add a Senior Data Engineer that will act as an enterprise data resource to service both an operational modernization program and the client's strategy to leverage data to improve member health outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a self-directing information technology practitioner with a passion for continuous learning and development as an information technology professional. Those areas of interest must include modern and progressive technology offerings not limited to but include offerings from AWS and Azure in the hybrid / multi-cloud and containerization arenas. The successful candidate will deeply understand the needs of the organization and maintain + improve the health of our existing data warehouse and transactional systems. The ideal candidate will be technically comfortable with shifting requirements, possess a curious and passionate analytical mindset, and be able to work with analysts, developers, and business leaders to assist in the creation of models for the data warehouse and data marts. The successful candidate is entrepreneurial at heart and open to building an entirely new set of capabilities for the organization. Responsibilities
  • Constantly develop a deeper understanding of available data
  • Work to understand multiple technical and operational departments, and how data is captured and used within the organization
  • Model, build, maintain, and support custom pipelines to service both the data warehouse and data marts
  • Provide recommendations on physical structure, query optimization and other performance techniques to ensure optimal performance of data marts
  • Organize, optimize, and expand upon existing ETL structure
  • Support the data engineering and operational needs of the Analytics team, as well as other teams across the CTS organization in the future
  • Engineer, manage, and maintain custom-built solutions for data enrichment, external data acquisition, workflow enhancement and database maintenance/monitoring tasks
  • Develop and manage CI/CD and source control solutions to improve development infrastructure
  • Act as cloud technology thought leader to provide insight and guidance for cloud computing solutions
  • Assist with the implementation of cloud offering selections and configuration to best support a hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Assess & POC implementation of modern technologies, providing consultation on best practices and working with stake holders to create robust usage strategy.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of SQL with the ability to understand complex queries and to write high quality, maintainable and reusable code
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift (AWS certification required),
  • Experience with Azure cloud warehouse (certification preferred)
  • Experience with MPP Databases
  • Experience with dimensional modeling
  • Ability to thrive in a project-based environment with evolving requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, aggregate, analyze, and wrangle significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with Python
Education/Background
  • BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or a Related Technical Field
  • 3+ years’ data warehousing or analytics experience
  • 3+ years’ data engineering experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in health care industry
