This position is responsible for working on and managing product testing, product benchmarking, materials testing, rapid prototyping, and prototype method development supporting all Business Units and divisions of the IDEAL Industries family of companies as well as maintaining facilities associated with these functions.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and Operate Corporate Rapid Prototype Lab

Training and management of interns on the use of Rapid Prototype equipment.

Maintenance and purchasing of supplies for Rapid Prototype Machines.

Communication with all company divisions concerning construction of prototype models and job scheduling.

Perform product performance testing per written procedures and verbal requests for purposes of product benchmarking and product performance verification.

Design and construction of fixtures and test devices for product performance benchmark testing.

Create CAD drawings/models of lab test fixtures and machines.

Write reports summarizing testing results.

Maintain and calibrate testing lab equipment including measuring equipment.

Maintain and organize testing lab and rapid prototype facility areas.

Shipping and receiving of test supplies, prototypes and prototype materials.

REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering Mechanics, or Materials preferred)

CAD Experience. Experience using Solid Works considered a plus.

Experience in metal machining (milling, drilling, turning, cutting, etc.). CNC experience considered a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to understand and align activities with department priorities and objectives.

Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

Capable of writing research papers and documenting testing results.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple activities/initiatives at one time.

Experience operating machining tools such as band saw, lathe, metal mil, surface grinder, etc.

Comfortable using computer software such as Microsoft OfficeTM and CAD.

Capable of accurately using mechanical measurement tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Optical Comparators, vision system, universal tensile/compression machines, etc.).

Knowledge of basic controls.

Product testing experience considered a plus.

Capable in assembling and operating test fixtures consisting of mechanical systems, electronic controls, pneumatics, and electromechanical components.
