NoEmail a FriendSaveSaveApply NowPosition Summary:The Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Coordinator position coordinates medical assistant, certified medical assistant and cast tech activity for assigned clinical departments under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor. Collaborates with Nursing Supervisor to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained and department workflows are effective and efficient. Works with Orthopedic educator to train staff on POC competencies for departments. The coordinator is involved in training and onboarding of new MA's, CMA's and cast technicians, assists with annual CMA competencies, provides patient care, assists with in-basket work. Maintains department patient care supplies and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma/Equivalent CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and Registered Orthopedic Tech Certification - ASOP and Basic Life Support (BLS). If candidate has not completed CMA/RMA upon hire, certification must be completed within 18 months of employment date. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the following certification bodies: National Health Career Association (NHA) American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT ) The American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), in addition, this certification requires - Successful completion of a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant (RMA / CMA) program OR - Successful completion of Carle/Parkland Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Academy If candidate does not have ASOP upon hire, certification must be obtained w/in 1 year of start date in position. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS CMA or casting experience required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Leadership and organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others, capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures, demonstrated compassion and caring in dealing with others.Essential Functions:

Track process improvement projects for the department as well as ensure compliance with accreditation standards

Train and audit on standardized office procedures to ensure consistency in all offices.

Supports administration and management directives.

Supports and enforces organization standards and requirements including but not limited to, compliance regulations, fire, safety/disaster programs, and infection control policies/procedures.

Reviews daily work assignments and loads to ensure office efficiency.

Reviews operational performance and employee audit results and manages team toward achieving performance metrics.

Coordinates schedules; approve time off requests, review and update timekeeper system (Kronos) for any deviations from schedule (overtime, tardy, missed scans, etc.) and holds employees accountable.

Responsible for training all new employees and maintaining competency, proficiency and safety training records on all full time and part time staff under the direction of the RN Supervisor.

Collaborates with RN Supervisor for all disciplinary and formal coaching of direct reports, including training and evaluation of staff.

Responsible for ensuring staff performance and quality.

Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment.

Responsible for achieving goals for patient throughput and patient satisfaction.

Resolves work related issues, or assists employees in solving work related issues.

Provides direct patient care as needed.

Orders department supplies/DME/ Instruments/linen and ensures par levels are maintained.

Performs other audits and duties as requested.
