Accounting Supervisor

DescriptionRobert Half Finance and Accounting is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for a client in the Vernon Hills area. The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for: Oversee and manage general accounting functions such as AR, AP, credit & collections, cash application, and other. Supervise 5-7 accounting clerical staff performing all transactional functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit & collections, cash application). Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements in process and efficiency. Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls. Maintain proper segregation of duties within the department. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete transactional processing, observance of periodic cutoffs. Assist with transactional workload as needed. Achieve other objectives and meet performance targets as described from time to time by management. Collaborate with other functions as necessary, particularly general ledger accounting, customer service, and sales. Coordinate audit and tax requests.The Accounting Supervisor reports to the VP of Finance, while working closely with the controller and assistant controllerRequirements 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, 2+ include a supervisory role Associate’s degree or BS/BA in accounting, or substantial comparable work experience Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization. Basic or general knowledge of sales taxes as they relate to customer billings Experience with continuous improvement, lean principles, or six sigma is a plus. Knowledge of the gaming or amusement industry is a plus, but not requiredExperience in medium-to-large companies, public or private, with high transaction volumes and some degree of complexity Experience with automated accounting software; knowledge of Oracle or other company-wide ERP systems is a plus.
