DescriptionOne of our clients on the north side of Chicago is looking to add hard-working and motivated individuals to their Desktop Configurations teams. This is a contract-to-hire position that is a great way to get your foot in the door with a highly reputable and recognized IT organization and start a career in IT. There are openings on the following shifts:1st Shift: Monday – Friday 4:00 am – 12:45 pm (45-minute unpaid lunch.)2nd Shift: Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 10:45 pm (45-minute unpaid lunch.)Role OverviewThe Configurations Technician is responsible for installing and configuring hardware and software on a high volume of computers, printers and other products for customers on a daily basis. This will include un-boxing units to configure and boxing units back up to prepare for shipment.Key Areas of ResponsibilityConfigure customers systems to their required specifications.Test systems to ensure 100% quality.Maintain minimum monthly productivity goals.Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware, software and peripheral equipment.Ensure that customers receive the highest level of customer service.Communicate issues concerning customer orders to the area Help Desk or Team Leader.Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.ResponsibilitiesPerform any additional duties assigned by management.It may be necessary on occasion for this individual to work beyond their regularly scheduled shiftOvertime is to be expected and in some cases may be requiredDemonstrate the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of force frequently (34-67% of the workday) and 26 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (0-33% of the workday). The team lift system must be utilized for loads weighing more than 50 pounds.Demonstrate the ability to push and pull up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (0-33% of the workday).Demonstrate the ability to perform eight or more hours of standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping and carrying products in combination at any given time.Ability to work in a warehouse environment which includes changes in temperature as the weather fluctuates, noise from conveyors and forklifts.RequirementsMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED.A + Certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience with the ability to demonstrate knowledge.Other Required QualificationsAnalytical skills and the ability to solve problemsAbility to quickly learn about new technology and keep pace with an ever-changing industryAbility to assemble and disassemble computer equipment, mechanically inclinedObtain certifications and continually learn new technology.Robert Half Technology matches IT professionals with some of the best companies on a temporary, project or full-time basis.
