Lab / Field Customer Premise Equipment Certification Subject Matter ExpertOverview:The subject matter expert (SME) will act as the Single Point of Contact for Telecom s Consumer Voice Service. He/she will be responsible for certification of CPE s (Customer Premise Equipment) mainly RGs (Residential Gateways), execute test plans and test cases for capacity augments, new features/functionalities and handle escalations for customer/production issues as part of Operations and Advanced Technical Support Team. The individual will be part of a labs team that works to identify, track, validate, and resolve defects on the platform. The individual must also have strong automation skills.The individual must be adept in understanding complex enterprise-grade VoIP architectures, partnering with peer organizations, and leading cross-functional teams in this critical role. The candidate should possess 5+ years of experience in Network Operations, Engineering, IT operations, and technical product/program management of VoIP and/or Mobility services.The individual must have a strong background in networking protocols, design, and principles of data and packet-based networks. He/she must possess strong organizational skills, be action oriented, results driven, and work with minimal direction. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure are critical in this role.Key Responsibilities Include:Responsible for test planning and execution of RG (Residential Gateways) certification testing for consumer servicesIdentify key issues, open defects, work with the vendor for a resolution, validate and resolve the defects once fix is available in a labs-based environmentUnderstand and able to configure voice gateways with registrar server and troubleshoot connectivity issuesAble to read and analyze debug VoIP logs and open bugs with vendorsProvision and configure voip lines on RGs (Residential Gateways)Thorough understanding of IP based network systems and protocolsExtensive knowledge of SIP protocol and related network components (Gateways, SBC, Proxy).End to End call flow testing of VoIP services which may require coordination with other teams (Domestic and International)Developing test scripts and plans; Perl and / or Shell scripting experience is a plusProvide Lab environment test supportDeep understanding and debugging capabilities for SIP, RTP and WireShark traces/capturesTest SIP and RTP call traces and SIP call flowAttend project meetings to review system and test requirementsResponsible for Tier 4 problem and troubleshooting/diagnosis and resolutionProvide production and escalation support to Operations and Service teamsExperience with tracing and troubleshooting VoIP sessions at the packet levelExperience in handling VoIP related automation test tools for call generation is a plusRequired Skills/Experience:5 years of testing and field support experience in various VoIP and/or Mobility products and technologiesStrong Tier 4 problem and troubleshooting/diagnosis and resolution experience.Extensive knowledge/experience with various protocols/architectures (SIP, RTP, RTCP, H.323, IMS, T.38) wrt implementation, interworking, troubleshooting, and supportExperience with VoIP and/or Mobility Solutions with extensive knowledge of Dial Plans, Call Features and Media ResourcesWorking knowledge/experience of IP networking (v4 and v6), IP networking protocols, NATing, ACLs, SSL/TLS, VLANs and Routing protocols in the troubleshooting and support realms.Unix skills and knowledge of OpenStack and relevant protocols for virtual services design like HTML, XML, Java, Python is a plus.Experience with gathering, analyzing, and troubleshooting complex customer/network (VoIP and/or Mobility) sessions at the packet level, using tools such as Wireshark, Agilent, Tektronix, Netscope.Strong communications skills required for working directly with vendors and manage/direct outage bridges.Understand and able to configure voice gateways with registrar server and troubleshoot connectivity issuesProven experience and success with voice over LAN, WAN and QOS design and implementation.Issue management and tracking (good project management and record keeping skills)Prior Telecom Consumer-VOIP service delivery (Test and Turn) experience is a plusKnowledge of quality/bug tracking systems (i.e. Quality Center, TMATS) and testing processesDeep understanding of the SIP protocol and IETF/ITUT standards in support of VoIP services. Examples: RFCs 3261, 3262, 3264, 4566, etc.
