Our client is a global manufacturer that is a leader in innovative and quality manufacturing of closures and dispensers. Our client is celebrating 100 years in business this year and serves a huge range of markets health & beauty& home care; food & beverage and nutraceutical; and industrial. Our client supplies both boutique manufacturers and the world’s top brands with a variety of rigid packaging closures, dispensers, and flexible packaging.

As Quality Engineer you will be in a multi-faceted role with emphasis on New Product Development. You will report to the Quality Manager, with dotted line reporting to the Director of NPD-Closures. You will be responsible for managing the new product launch activities directly related to product and process quality and for identifying and implementing continuous improvement actions. As Quality Engineer you will work directly with customers and suppliers to ensure design and manufacturing requirements are met. You will provide support to the operation through assuring successful manufacturing transfer including validation and training.

As Quality Engineer responsibilities will include:

  • New Product Development activities:

    • Definition of Critical Characteristics based on application, including understanding of customer processes; assists with defining CTQ and CTP
    • Review materials and product designs for regulatory compliance
    • Coordinate third party testing for special regulatory performance initiatives
    • Develop and provide definition of adequate measurement methods proven through MSA
    • Assist with automated inspection system qualifications – MSA with boundary sample development and definition
    • Standardized test method development

  • Design Validation protocol development, execution and reporting
  • Process Validation including automated inspection and error proofing associated with newly implemented processes and equipment. Includes software validation for PLC

    • Assure Process Capability though DOE to establish optimized processing parameters
    • Developing sampling plan strategy with appropriate AQL level sampling based on Cpk

  • Risk Analysis through Design/Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis or similar approach
  • Development of control plan, specifications and instructions relevant to all new products based on associated risks for each feature and process
  • Employee training and support for all newly launched products and processes
  • Validation of continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives associated to core legacy processes and products
  • Analyze data to determine improvement priority (knowledge of statistical analysis tools, such as MiniTab, Excel Pivot Tables, is preferred)
  • Proactively search for quality problems to improve and lead those activities

Your background should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, quality or technical Training. Associates degree will be considered as will relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Technician or Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of ISO9001:2015 or other regulated industry quality management system standards
  • Injection molding and/or Metal stamping experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical writing experience preferred
  • Training in advanced problem solving preferred (Green/Black Belt, CAPA)
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and taking initiative
  • Must be willing to travel periodically and work overtime as needed
