JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing engineering analysis, design and verification to requirements, for small to medium projects and/or designated segments of larger complex projects in a specific engineering discipline for an assigned functional area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The design of circuit boards, cables, and electrical systems to be incorporated into medical devices.
  • Applies technical competencies and knowledge to solve problems of a routine nature, or improve upon exiting designs or processes.
  • Designs and coordinates research and test to validate, analyze and solve technical problems.
  • Applies new technical tools and concepts under the direction of others.
  • Documents status and results accurately and succinctly, and with purpose.
  • Seeks input from more experienced individuals to improve quality of deliverables

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or local equivalent of same; generally, 2-4 years of experience.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Proficient problem solving.
  • Adaptable to change
  • Experience in the medical device industry or other regulated industry

Preferred Experience:

  • Design of circuit boards with embedded processors (ARM is preferred) that were produced in medium to high volume (5,000 to 1,000,000 boards per year)
  • Experience working with schematics (DxDesigner), layouts (Mentor Graphics Xpedition), design analysis (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx)
  • Experience with digital design and basic software development for testing hardware designs.
  • Experience with documenting designs and analysis per FDA certification process including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and testing requirements.
  • Experience designing communication interfaces between circuit boards including, CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and display boards.
  • Experience interfacing both analog and digital sensors to embedded processors including air pressure, temperature, load cells, current measurement, and others.
  • Experience designing DC to DC switching power supplies.
  • Experience with designing for radiated emissions, ESD, cost, reliability, 10 years of production with limited obsolesce, and DFM.
