- The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing new (or improving older) equipment that will automate assembly, fabrication, and packaging equipment utilizing sensors, actuators, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls, tables, punches, motors, servos, etc.
- Analyzes and determines needs (rates, productivity, quality, etc.) and translates those needs in functional designs.
- The Machinery Engineer is responsible for equipment structural integrity (all engineering calculations related to the project stress, strength, material and components selection, etc)
- The Machinery Designer will work closely with other departments to determine equipment specifics (automation, production, quality, etc) to ensure a safe, high quality and efficient production environment.
- The Machinery Designer will present layout and all needed conceptual assembly drawings for project approval.
- The Machinery Designer will produce all detailed drawings for construction using AutoCAD or Solidworks software.
- The Machinery Designer will supervise construction, installation and start-up of the designed equipment, and prepare operation and maintenance manuals
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is a strong preference (other technical degrees and/or experience could work.
- 4-5 years pertinent experience in machine, equipment, automation design.
- Experience as a Machinery Designer or Mechanical Engineer designing custom equipment in a heavy industrial environment that includes assembly, fabrication, or building equipment for customers.
- Knowledge in up to date mechanical components including pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, motors, servos, controls, sensors, robotics, etc.
- Must have experience implementing machinery into manufacturing operations and troubleshooting/de-bugging the process.
- Experience with process improvement would be outstanding as well.
