- Assist operations team in optimizing new part processing for mass production and assuring part performance capability.
- Support product development engineers and customer managers to implement customer requirements into new product designs that are feasible and optimized for the manufacturing process.
- Working knowledge of metal materials, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups and the design and manufacturing of Progressive Die, stamped fasteners, and assemblies.
- Understand, create, and manage a Progressive Die layout and tool designs for sheet metal fasteners.
- Able to work with outside suppliers for plating, heat treatment and other outside operations of metal fasteners and assemblies.
- Complete assigned ECN tasks from Windchill (PDM), i.e., item master data for bills of material, part routings, costs, within the ERP system (JD Edwards).
- Work with program management and sales to meet project timelines for customer delivery and PPAP requirements.
- Design, check and/or oversee tool design in house or at the tooling supplier.
- Participate in the creation of APQP deliverables (DFMEA, DVP&R, team feasibility assessments, design stack ups, design studies, etc.)
- Support and promote innovative product creation resulting in patent generation.
- Assist quality team and operations in resolving new launch and current production product issues.
- Participate in VAVE activities (i.e. process optimizations, cost savings, improve efficiency, etc.).
- 5 years minimum experience in stamping / progressive Die manufacturing engineering.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar is preferred. Or 10 years with progressive die experience.
- Understanding of metal forming or stamping, preferably with Progressive Dies.
- Understanding of in Die and offline metal assembly.
- Ability to coordinate multiple quick moving projects simultaneously.
- Hands on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, computer skills, leadership skills, self-driven with strong project management skills.
- Experience with APQP process and ISO 16949 (DFMEA, DVP&R, Team Feasibility) preferred.
- Experience in automotive industry preferred.
- Experience in fastener design preferred.
- 3D CAD background and modeling experience preferred.
