They care for critically or chronically ill cancer patients by administering treatment and providing information and support. Oncology nurses work with physicians as a part of interdisciplinary teams to care for cancer patients in AHN’s outpatient clinics.American Health Network’s outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinics operates Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.Primary Responsibilities:Provide direct nursing care for hematology/oncology patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed

Perform nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients

Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary staff to provide support and guidance throughout the treatment process

Evaluate and record treatment results

Provides education and support to patients and family members with a focus on physical, mental and emotional status, as well as nutrition, pain, and family involvement

Help patients, and their families, understand the disease, the treatment plan, and any possible side effects, and help to translate complex medical terminology to the patient and answer questions

Advise patients on disease prevention and personal care

Active, unrestricted RN license for the state of Indiana

BLS certification

Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualification:Experience administering chemotherapy or other infusion treatments

ONS/ONCC Certification

Experience working in an outpatient Hematology Oncology clinic

3+ years of RN experience
