Job Description:
  • ASRS Program OSL
  • Problem Statement: ASRS Projects require an OSL to deliver an end to end plan & support vertical start up to minimize business impacts to operations & quickly execute justification payback. Feedback from current ASRS sites (Denver & Anderson) emphasize the importance of understanding operations, operational flow, people, processes, and systems integration. This role must be able to influence, engage, align, how the site must change the ways of working and operations to fully leverage the automation to drive the way we operate and deliver customer service targets.

Preferred Scope of Experience for Program OSL:
  • Operational logistics experience (System) to understand current operations, systems (EWM), staffing, & customer relationships. (minimum 3-5 years direct Warehouse Supervision).
  • Automation (Process) understanding & participation in final design and functional spec alignment to support project execution for end to end solution (Must have a strong aptitude for Industrial Automation Curiosity)
  • Stakeholder, Leadership & project management (People) experience leading a team and/or large-scale projects, courage, follow up, communication skills.
  • Potential Paths:

    1. Local Logistics Management OSL

    a. Local WH or LM dedicated to OSL role for 12-18mo, their role to be backfilled by MDA
    • Pros- long term sustainability & local knowledge building, commitment to focus on project, MDA development
    • Cons- movement & job change leaving a future knowledge gap, MDA relo costs
    2. MDA OSL

    a. MDA associates act as OSL for 1.5-3years following rotation. Complete 1-2 sites to build automation technology & business knowledge working with project & local teams.
    • Pros- MDA development/career path clarity w/ option to continue as OSL or potential to stay at executed site
    • Cons- when MDA moves to next project or permanent role elsewhere there will be a knowledge loss at executed site, project management experience could be lacking
    3. Engineering/Contractor

    a. Project assigned OSL with extensive project management experience
    • Pros- familiarity with project management, potential to move to next ASRS project & minimize supply chain bench impact
    • Cons- lack of business or logistics knowledge to support holistic project, knowledge leaves the organization/supply chain community after go live
