Description: Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop cryogenic coolers and controllers.
- Analyze components and systems for cooling capacity, reliability, and other critical characteristics.
- Lead execution of development projects.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers.
- Contribute to writing winning technical proposals.
- Propose new technologies, materials, or processes for use on the product line.
- Collaborate with an Integrated Product Team for new product development and ongoing product support.
- Support existing product lines and customers with technical issues.
- Write test plans and procedures.
- Perform or coordinate product testing.
- Write and approve test reports.
- Prepare and approve engineering documentation including drawings, plans, reports, proposals, etc.
- Support business development in capturing new business, including advising on opportunity identification, strategy, and supporting the interface with customers.
- Develop product and technology requirements for current and future designs
- Advise on product roadmaps in close coordination with Business Development and other functions.
- Plan projects and estimate resource needs.
- Provide periodic status updates to senior and executive leadership.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Ten or more years of relevant industry experience working on cryogenic systems
- Excellent communication skills including ability to present to internal and external senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to junior engineers and technicians.
- Able to work in an office and indoor or outdoor industrial environment.
- Domestic and international travel required on occasion.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Familiarity with CAD software (Creo or Solidworks preferred).
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis techniques and software (ANSYS preferred).
- Experience with Stirling cycle cryogenic coolers and their applications in infrared sensing systems and similar applications.
- Experience with control electronics and basic electrical principles.
- Current US DoD security clearance or the ability to acquire a security clearance.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
