Description: Cobham Mission Systems is seeking a Director of Engineering Services - To provide leadership, strategic vision and direction to a growing Engineering Services team within the Cobham Mission Systems Davenport Business Unit. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the successful candidate will lead the Engineering Services team to support several product lines, including Air-to-Air Refueling and Life Support, in all aspects of systems conceptualization, design, development and delivery. This position is located Davenport, IA. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop team managers and supervisors responsible for engineering operations, engineering analysis, engineering administration, lab technicians, designers, configuration management, data management, technical writing, and logistics
  • Provide strategic leadership to match pace with growing markets, technology advancements, and industry trends
  • Mentor aspects of leadership and industry standard engineering practices
  • Foster a culture of engaged employees at all levels in the business
  • Manage change and communication within the organization
  • Collaborate with all other functional departments and other Cobham business units
  • Support capture of new business with proposal development and cost estimates
  • Interface with customers at multiple levels, including senior executives, responding promptly to customer needs, and soliciting customer feedback to improve service
  • Recommend and lead implementation of new processes and tools in alignment with ethics, quality, and continuous improvement objectives
  • Interpret and enforce policy, conduct performance evaluations, and manage employee relations while meeting engineering schedules, customer needs, and quality standards in a timely fashion
  • Actively promote and enforce adherence to Safety, Health, and Environment rules and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 12 or more years of product development or engineering experience
  • 8 or more years of management experience
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aerospace and Defense experience
  • Understanding of engineering design process
  • Understanding of how the engineering services function contributes to product development and support throughout the life cycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with drawing standards for US Government contracts
  • Experienced in Six Sigma and Lean practices.
