Description: Cobham Mission Systems in Davenport, Iowa is seeking a Senior Advance Quality Engineer reporting to the Program Quality Manager that will work with a dynamic team at our growing Davenport, Iowa facility. The successful candidate will be an integral member of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for new product development (NPD), participating from initial lifecycle phases through transition to production. This position is located in Davenport, IA.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the Quality Point of Contact (POC) between the IPT for new programs and other quality functions.
- Act as the functional project manager within the Quality team, managing the Quality deliverables and their completion to the project schedule and requirements.
- Manage customer and internal communications in a timely and professional manner, ensuring they are handled as required.
- Ensure lessons learned from similar programs are applied to new programs and process documents updated to reflect this.
- Exercise good judgement to escalate programmatic concerns where required to the Quality Manager and Program Leadership.
- Lead the monthly quality report out of all projects assigned
- Provide support relative to the collection and analysis of Program quality data.
- Document and report concerns via internal tracking methods
- Review all program deliverables/activities across functions and verify for their completeness.
- Mentor all team members on deliverable requirements as needed.
- Ensures both customer and regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensure everyone adheres to the business management system (BMS) processes by all functions in NPD
- Provide Quality Leadership during all Phase and Design Reviews.
- Implement quality processes, procedures, work instructions, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, customer/regulatory quality requirements, and internal quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
- Witness and audit the building and testing of development product.
- Serve as the Quality Representative on the Configuration Control Board as necessary.
- Perform risk analyses and implement associated mitigations.
- Perform Root Cause Corrective Action utilizing disciplined methodologies such as 8D to ensure effectiveness.
- Review and approve work instructions.
- Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
- Review and verify supplier PPAP submissions for acceptance.
- Prepare, review, and approval (if applicable) of quality documents such as plans, policies, procedures, and reports.
- Conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools.
- Participate in audits when required.
- Perform all operations according to prescribed safety and environmental principles.
- All other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, or Bachelor's degree in another discipline with Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering experience.
- 8+ years of Engineering experience of which 5+ years in Quality Assurance (QA).
- 3+ years of experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, including prints (GD&T), drawings, and engineering orders.
- 3+ years of experience with AS9100/ISO9001 (aerospace), MIL-STD, ISO13485 (medical), or TS16949 (automotive).
- 3+ years of experience with Root Cause Analysis Tools, Lean Manufacturing, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience with Minitab and able to mentor lower grade team members.
- Strong and proven Project/Program Management experience (IE: timing, hours, delivery, schedules, etc)
- Highly skilled user of Microsoft office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio
- Proven ability to identify needs within a business and implement solutions with minimal oversite.
- Ability to handle multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of budgets and the estimating process
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience is highly desired, including associated tools such as characteristics matrices, process flow diagrams, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Become proficient in Q-Pulse within 3 months of deployment and serve as the SME for Advance Quality Engineering.
- Extensive Lifecycle Management (LCM) experience.
- 2+ years of experience with AS9145
- Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 standard
- Full understanding of regulatory requirements, Government/Military contracts, and Aerospace industry experience.
- Significant and relevant Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) experience.
- Strong FAA experience.
- National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) experience
- ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Reliability Engineer.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and operate across all organizational levels
- An advanced degree or MBA.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
