The Creative Center for Young Children, a fine arts focused, Early Childhood Program in Downtown Des Moines is seeking an energetic and career minded lead teacher to join our program. We are seeking a professional who would like to work in a small group setting with our 3 - 4 year old children.
The hours of this position are from 7:30am – 3:30pm, Monday thru Friday, year round.
Minimum requirements:
18 years old.
State Criminal History Record Check
FBI Fingerprint Check
Mandatory Child Abuse Training Certificate.
Universal Precautions Training Certificate.
Pre-Employment Physical including TB test.
Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, BA preferred.
Two years of experience in group child care setting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Lessons planning using the Creative Curriculum including art component
Ongoing portfolio assessment of children using Creative Curriculum
Engaging and interacting with 16 children through direct care and supervision
Building and maintaining relationships with each child’s family
Directly supervising a teacher associate
Collaborating with other lead teachers in the program
Setting up and maintaining room arrangement within the classroom
Initiating and carrying out transition activities with children
Snack and lunch prep for family style meals
Attend monthly paid staff meetings and ongoing trainings
Assisting and encouraging life skills with the children that lead to increased independence
Field trip planning and supervision
Preferred experience with:
Creative Curriculum Lesson Planning and Assessment Tools
Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS)
Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS)
National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation Criteria
Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing Regulations
Early Childhood Essentials Training

The pay range for this position is $15 - $19/hour based on education and experience.
