The Hy-Vee Distribution Center in Cherokee, Iowa has an immediate opening for a Bilingual Human Resources Representative / Generalist. The primary requirements are fluency in Spanish and experience with Microsoft Office. Office and / or Human Resources experience is a plus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Performs general secretarial duties, including typing, copying, dictation, sending interdepartmental Cherokee and WDM mail, and filing.

Provides English - Spanish translation as needed

Records attendance and performance documentation with data entry and monitoring attendance points. Compiles and distributes disciplinary consultations for attendance.

Assists applicants as needed either in-person on-site or via telephone or email communications.

Assists with employment application process and performs pre-screening or initial short interview. Returns correspondence to applicants in a timely manner.

Responsible for translating documents from English to Spanish

Schedules interviews and orientations. Assists with Warehouse Simulation tests for selector positions. Assists with creating orientation folders.

Designs and prints flyers/pictures as needed; including MenuBoards.

Maintains employee name badge program, S2 security access program, InfoLink and Manhattan for warehouse employees. Maintain Outlook contacts.

Organizes and maintains bulletin boards.

Communicates and completes all tasks related to funeral arrangements including ordering plants, sending email condolences, sympathy cards, and funeral pay

Compiles and distributes information for employee evaluations.

Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

Reports employee military status monthly to corporate.

Create employee birthday calendar monthly. Address employee birthday cards monthly for upper management to sign and mail timely.

Maintain Refer-A-Friend program and quarterly totals including ordering gift cards and distributing to employees.

Coordinate and order get well snack packs for employees. Send onesies to employee parents.

Coordinate holiday parties, Road of Gold, Veteran's day, employee event tickets, Service Awards, and all other employee relations as needed.

Maintain employee ID badges, lockers, weekly receipt draws, phone list and supply orders.

Corresponds with job applicants and employees to notify them of job opportunities.

Assist with tours of Distribution Center as needed.

Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Represents the company in a positive manner.

Adheres to company policies.

Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Must be able to speak and write both English and Spanish fluently

Must have experience working on a computer and using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Must be able to type at least 40 WPM

Experience working in an office environment is preferred

Must have the ability to make appointments and process mail; compose original correspondence and write form letters; interpret written work instructions; follow technical manuals; interview to obtain basic and job performance information; counsel or advise people; and have increased contact with people.

Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction and color vision.

Must be able to perform the following physical activities:

Reaching, balancing, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
