Responsibilities

The Deputy Center Director plans, organizes, administers, and controls student programs and activities necessary to effectively operate and meet the objectives of a Job Corps operation. Provides oversight for departments designated by the Center Director; departments may include: Social Development, OA/CTS, and Counseling. Invests in staff through coaching, mentoring, and inspiring.

Coach, inspire and develop staff who report to this position.

Responsible for the overall administration of departments designated by the Center Director.

Advises the Center Director in planning for future programmatic operations and expansion.

Responsible for the safe operation of assigned center functions and also the safety of the students.

Serves as Center Director as necessary.

Holds managers accountable to outcomes and deliverables; including PRH requirements.

Ensures the Talent Acquisition stakeholders are working together and timely in addressing center vacancies.

Ensure department heads are administering policies and procedures fairly across departments.

Ensure new hires in all departments are going through new hire orientation per guidelines in the policy.

Ensure all employees feel valued and appreciated.

Responsible for meeting established goals and objectives.

Responsible for the oversight of maintaining positive Center culture.

Builds a continuing relationship with community leaders and social, religious, civic and service organizations.

Keeps Center Director abreast of all matters sufficient to warrant attention. Develops and maintains channels of communication with staff to provide a free flow of information to the Center Director.

Conducts regular staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Plans and prepares budgets to provide for current and projected activities.

Provides necessary reports for the Department of Labor and corporate headquarters.

Ensures that departmental reviews are conducted regularly.

Responsible for ensuring that departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met.

Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.

Approves appropriate Human Resources transactions, e.g. merits, new hires, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Business, Education or related field. Experience in program management in a career technical, education, and/or training setting. Must have experience working with youth. Willing to travel, when necessary.

Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in Job Corps Program Management. Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with the program’s targeted population, in a residential setting. Experience with students between the ages 16-24.

General Information: In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must have regular attendance.

Knowledge Required: Knowledge of contract administration, fiscal analysis, healthcare operations, outreach, marketing, social development operations. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Physical and mental toughness to withstand long hours required. Ability to establish rapport and relate effectively with students and to direct and inspire staff.
