- Partner with senior scientists to understand needs, formulate hypothesis, and design statistically sound experiments to solve complex R&D problems
- Implement and deliver rigorous statistical solutions aligned to project needs
- Lead and manage projects; guide team members/junior scientists to ensure scientific rigor in projects under your purview
- Communicate insights derived from complex data analysis into simple conclusions that empower leadership to drive action
- Work with leadership to develop and execute long-term advanced analytics strategies
- Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Genetics or related highly quantitative fields, and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to independently translate scientific needs into statistical problems by asking right questions, and delivering solutions by identifying necessary data, building models, and producing actionable results.
- In-depth expertise designing factorial experiments (completely randomized designs, randomized complete block designs, etc.)
- Extensive experience analyzing designed experiments and observational datasets (e.g. linear fixed effects and mixed effects models, generalized linear models, regression analysis, non-linear models)
- Familiarity with machine learning methodologies (e.g. decision trees, neural networks, SVM, unsupervised learning)
- Experience initiating, developing, and leading data science projects/efforts with multiple data scientists
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one scientific programming language (e.g. Python, R)
- Broad understanding of emerging statistics/machine learning approaches and how they can be deployed to drive value in R&D
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills are required
- Critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn
