Job Description

The Continuous Skills Development Specialist is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Continuous Skills Development (CSD) process while following all Good Manufacturing Practices and USDA guidelines in a plant location. This role will work closely with plant operations to define and document the “one best way” to perform a specific task and ensure that these methods are embedded in the training documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assess the knowledge and skills needed to effectively perform jobs within the facility.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of CSD training materials for all job tasks.
  • Ensure plant location CSD processes meet the Corporate CSD process requirements.
  • Work with CI and CSD team members across the company as required ensuring consistency and continuous improvement.
  • Amend and revise programs as necessary, in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the work environment.
  • Ensuring that statutory training requirements are met.
  • Train certified trainers (subject matter experts) and supervisors in techniques and skills for proper training methods and giving feedback to team members.
  • Lead group and individual training sessions to include orientation, required continuous developmentand other adhoc training needs.
  • Organize and catalogue training materials and resources and effectively communicate how to access resources.
  • Keep accurate records of completed team member trainings and certificates.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings with all levels of team members, while ensuring CSD methods and procedures are used.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
  • Audit CSD Methods for compliance with company standards
  • Support Team Member engagement.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Required Experience:

  • One to three years of experience working in a direct or staff function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the development and creation of training documents such as SOPs, work instructions, procedures or job aids
  • Project management experience

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a trainer, training project SME and/or training designer
  • Knowledge of plant operations processes
  • Bi-lingual is perferred

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and team members.
  • Ability to build interpersonal relationships within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to build consensus across functions and shifts in a plant
  • Microsoft Office Skills - Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience working with graphics
  • Project management experience / ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to organize and prioritize in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Able to read and write legibly.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
