Job Description

The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating dispatch, transportation, and equipment to deliver accurate and quality customer service. This positon will work closely with the General Manager to drive operations efficiencies and productivity, manage operations staff, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures while achieving the company’s goals and objectives for his/her business unit.

Qualifications

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise service facility’s operations staff. Participates in recruiting and all other aspects of hiring, onboarding, and personnel management.
  • Lead staff to execute basic and advanced production or manufacturing duties as needed to effectively create orders, prepare for dispatch, and meet customer expectations.
  • Manage dispatch process for vehicles, equipment, and staff

    for service facility. Coordinate all fertilizer distribution logistics, including delivery timelines and application schedule. Verify spreading tickets. Follows SOP for shipping and receiving.
  • Schedules drivers and assigns routes to maximize productivity and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company rules.
  • Assist with the sales order process, including but not limited to: price check incoming orders; place orders for walk-in and call-in customers, including use of NetSuite application; obtain freight quotes; and relay pricing to customers and sales staff.
  • Lead the service facility soil sampling program, including working with the SMS program and taking soil samples at customer sites. Direct soil sampling activities for service facility.
  • Responsible for tracking and purchasing licenses from identified vendors for company SMS program for soil sampling and licenses for floater trucks.
  • In conjunction with the production staff, setup and supervise production schedule for fertilizer orders.
  • Manage and track inventory, coordinating with affiliated or affected departments. Perform monthly cycle count process. Create and manage monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Assist with weekly training utilizing Tool Box Safety Topics for facility employees. Assist with monthly MBA safety training. Documents and supports MBA safety program. Serves as team safety leader of facility. Responds to emergency situations if necessary.
  • Effectively manage and track service facility-specific data, including that used for spreader carts and floaters. Analyze data and make recommendations to improve efficiencies and determine associated costs.
  • Act as a back up to the service facility operations manager as scheduling and business needs dictate.
  • Assist with coordinating the maintenance of facility equipment.
  • Attend company meetings as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, agronomy, or related field plus 2 years of experience and/or a combination of 3-5 years equivalent education and work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment
  • Must take full responsibility in assisting with the management of a facility to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Must be able effectively prioritize and manage own workloads and those of subordinate employees.
  • Previous experience managing multiple agronomy operations staff preferred.
  • Previous experience working a manufacturing or production environment, operating commercial grade trucks, vehicles or other agronomy related machinery.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends to meet business demands during peak season; must be able to work in extreme weather condition; frequently lift 50lbs.
