It all begins with you.Consumer & Small Business Banking (CSSB)Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) provides financial services to 21 million retail bank households and three million small business customers through approximately 4,900 retail branches, 17 customer service centers, and more than 13,000 ATMs in 36 states and the District of Columbia. CSBB Operations’ focus is to define and drive a transformational strategy to improve customer experience and business profitability, while also ensuring effective risk and control management and a talent strategy focused on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as leadership competencies necessary for future success.The RoleThe CSBBO Business Operational Controls Management Leader will lead the team responsible for leading control programs within the business, developing strong partnerships with the Control & Independent Risk Mgmt teams to ensure engagement and compliance. This role will lead the business in all aspects of control policies and programs, advocating for and implementing a strong control environment that is continuously evolving with the business. This leader will work closely with Senior Leaders within CSBBO, Control and Independent Risk Mgmt in the development and execution of risk management strategies and programs. Key responsibilities include :Leading horizontal program management for the implementation, sustainment and compliance of all regulatory policies and programs
Leading implementation, sustainment and compliance of cross functional policies include risk policies and programs
Providing strategic oversight of CSBBO Procedures program, driving further improvements of the documentation processes
Driving constant engagement with Control partners to identify and size impact of items in pipeline
Building and leading regulatory change management and the regulatory alert process
Establishing an access management program
Continuous improvement of overall risk and control effectiveness
Building centralized/LOB led risk management oversight
Additional responsibilities include:Collaborating and consulting with Risk & Control partners on impacts from policies
Supporting line of business subject matter experts and leadership throughout policy/program implementation process
Communicating with CSBBO Leadership on upcoming regulatory policies/programs, work in process and impacts on operating environment
The CandidateThe successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and credibility with a proven ability to influence broadly across a matrixed organization, create engagement, and an urgent drive for results. This executive will be articulate and have strong interpersonal effectiveness with an impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, and business acumen.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning
8+ years of management experience in a planning environment
Other Desired Qualifications5+ years of risk management or control experience
5+ years of financial services or any other industry experience leading multiple, large, and complex functions or businesses
Experience and proven knowledge of the Risk Management Framework
Demonstrated record of executing large, cross functional efforts with urgency
Proven leadership skills in identifying and articulating strategic plans and translating into team objectives and action plans
Proven success in building and sustaining large, complex programs
Ability to leverage data to build narratives that drive management decisions and measure results
Demonstrated risk management and compliance knowledge and accountability.
Demonstrated application of risk principles to products and procedures for significant and geography dispersed businesses.
Disciplined operational thinker who can manage in a complex risk environment
Proven and demonstrated leadership skills including relationship building, partnering and collaborating with clear ability to influence, gain buy-in and negotiate with a diverse group of business partners/stakeholders including senior management.
Demonstrated ability to manage effectively in a heavily matrixed organization with a high degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight.
Proven success recruiting, inspiring, developing, coaching and motivating team members through balanced leadership with a focus on team member engagement and retention and performance management.
Ability to influence without direct authority, create and manage (while achieving results) large-scale change and influence people at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including executive management, regulatory examiners and internal auditors.
Proven ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders of different levels, including experience presenting to senior executives with the ability to simplify complex information in a clear manner.
