Lab TechnicianConduct the necessary testing on all products before shipment to ensure material is within specified parameters. Help maintain testing lab and instruments, collaborate with management, vendors and customers, be a champion of quality and process.
  • Conduct necessary testing on all products before shipment to ensure material is within specified parameters
  • Execute all necessary daily tests in all areas to assist all managers and or operators with process.
  • Perform the alcohol organoleptic panels to assess alcohol and gin quality.
  • Prepare reagents, standards and media, following Good Laboratory Practices, to support laboratory activities.
  • Monitor inventory of consumable supplies and report needed items to supervisor.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks necessary for efficient laboratory operation.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, instruments and equipment to provide maximum, accurate and safe output to meet data deadlines.
  • Review and retain incoming raw material, chemical certificates of analysis, and alcohol analysis sheets.
  • Distribute needed solutions to plant areas for accurate test results of production material.
  • Assist Research and Development with testing to aid in new product development or formula changes and upon request from production managers.
  • Execute training of plant and laboratory personnel to insure quality of in-plant and laboratory testing.
  • Prepare Gin oils for use in plant Gin production.
  • Coordinate with operators and managers to troubleshoot production quality problems and help find a solution.
  • Post test results in SAP, infinity, and to other agreed-upon test result reporting methods for internal use.
  • Provide pre-shipment samples to customers (ex: Jim Beam, Glico, Itochu, Ardent Mills, Westpac, and Hamilton Materials) for their approval for shipment (as assigned).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in chemistry, biology, cereal science or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments, sensory evaluation experience, good laboratory practiced (GLP) training
  • Ability to accurately analyze samples and make disposition decision
  • Ability to effectively organize sample workload and prioritize analyzed
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all departments.
  • At least on year of basic laboratory techniques preferred.
  • Previous experience with a quality management system is highly desired.
