About the Job We are looking for a Jr Software Engineer to join our growing team in Lenexa, KS. The Jr Software Engineer is responsible for both back-end and front-end development. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, MySQL, Reactjs, Typescript, and common JavaScript libraries), experience in Wordpress, and an understanding of the application stack and server architecture. AWS experience is a big plus. This role will join a quickly growing, in-house, development team and is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and extension of existing and future web applications in B2C and B2B production environments. The successful candidate will have a track record of being a proactive and collaborative problem-solver; someone who can thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinating and participating in the programming, implementation, testing, and support of web-based projects using LAMP and/or JAM stack
  • Programming, developing, and producing data-driven web applications, websites, and mobile apps using the latest technology solutions and software
  • Proactive communication with stakeholders and team members about project statuses
  • Consulting with stakeholders to ensure the use of effective Internet-based technologies for enterprise business applications
  • Full stack debugging and problem solving across a wide variety of open-source and mobile platforms
  • Maintaining existing code bases and implementation of new requirements.
  • Documenting dev decisions and solutions
  • Responding to incident "tickets" related to production environment

  • EXPERIENCE
  • At least one year of professional full stack development
  • Solid project-level experience with at least one open source CMS platform such as WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal, etc.
  • Web-based programming languages, e.g., PHP, JavaScript
  • SQL and relational database systems, ideally MySQL
  • NodeJS
  • Standards Compliant HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • SASS/LESS
  • JS Frameworks (e.g. React, JQuery, Vue)
  • Proficiency in a LAMP environment
  • Git version control (or other VCS)
  • Package management and task runners (e.g. Composer, NPM, Yarn, Gulp, Grunt)
  • Browser testing using various developer tools
  • Highly Desirable - CI/CD automation tools, e.g., Jenkins
  • Highly Desirable - Linux system administration
  • Highly Desirable - Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud
  • Highly Desirable - New Relic experience
