Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Magento Engineer is responsible for implementing the project from design and functional specifications. Depending on the project, this may include the following responsibilities:

  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to understand client goals & engineer solutions
  • Maintains local development environment and supports other Magento engineers as needed with their local environments
  • Writes and deploys performant Magento code, both front and back-end
  • Writes and executes SQL scripts and queries as needed
  • Documents work in Jira, Confluence, or other client systems
  • Estimates development tasks during discovery, scoping, planning and development stages
  • Communicates technical dependencies, blocks and risks to project stakeholders and management
  • Interacts with clients and project leads to provide technical direction and recommendations
  • Collaborates with senior engineers and project leads on technical decisions
  • Learns and adheres to company coding standards and conventions
  • Provides valuable written feedback on peers and evaluation of team performance
  • Follows project level design decisions and conventions
  • Manages time effectively to meet deadlines and commitments
  • May configure and deploy projects to various hosting environments for review
  • Provides exploratory and budget estimates as well as feasibility assessments
  • May perform basic server administration and configuration of development and hosting environments

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience building ecommerce solutions with Magento
  • Magento developer certification
  • Experience developing web applications with Magento 2, PHP and MySQL
  • Strong HTML, JavaScript and CSS skills
  • Strong familiarity with git
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team-orientation
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Fast-learner and self-starter

Preferred

  • Magento Professional, Professional Plus, or Cloud Professional certifications
  • Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs/web services
  • System administration experience installing and configuring production hosting servers
  • Experience with performance monitoring & improvements
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field
