THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION- 415pm-245am

Position Summary

This is an individual contributor roleresponsible for supporting various Safety programs at the Newton, KS manufacturing operation.Individual will primarily be responsible for assisting with implementing corrective actions identified through various means to improve the safety environment, as well as the coordination of various other safety initiatives. This individual must be able to communicate with all levels of the facility. The successful candidate for this position must be able to administer policies and procedures in accordance with established local, state and federal requirements.

Accountabilities

  • Champion a Zero Injury work environment for all associates
  • Champion safety by monitoring and observing associates working on the production/ shop floor and effectively communicating and facilitating hazard elimination strategies with front line supervision identifying hazards and effectively communicating those hazards to the associates
  • Maintain recordkeeping systems
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Coordinate and/or conduct site inspections and audits Assist with all site inspections and audits
  • Ensure preservation of operation and inspection logs Maintain operation and inspection logs
  • Sustain various EHS programs, lockout placards, Job Hazard Analysis, Review etc. current Lockout Placards, including verifying proper labeling of lockout points
  • Assist supervision with Conduct Safety Layered Process Audits (LPA)
  • Assist the EHS Manager in developing, conducting, and tracking of all safety training
  • Assist with performing comprehensive incident investigations and follow up on closure of incident reports
  • Provide constructive feedback and communication when issues are discovered that need to be addressed
  • Maintain and promote positive attitude, teamwork and cooperation
  • Partner with Managers and Supervisors to Drive safety initiatives in work areas
  • Review chemicals on site and verify current SDS (Safety Data Sheets) are in the online system
  • Monitor contractors for compliance with EHS program and training requirements
  • Help facilitate site security initiatives
  • Perform various other duties relating to safety, MPS (MasterBrand Production System), etc. as assigned
  • Implement corrective actions for identified safety improvements
  • Support Safety Kaizen events, targeting hazards/areas needing improvement
  • Assist withProvide leadership in creating effective Safety teams and programs
  • Assist with training, hazard identification, ergonomics, etc.
  • Administer first aid to employees as needed

Experience & Education

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Must have attention to detail, be self-directed and display strong organizational skills
  • Must have ability to read and comprehend required documents
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and support initiatives with all levels of associates and management
  • Ability to participate and complete additional training as identified (i.e. OSHA 10-hour Hazard Analysis)
  • Ability to be trained in First Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP
  • 3+ years’ experience managing Environmental Health and Safety in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Previous experience developing facility programs and providing EHS training
  • Previous experience with compliance reports to OSHA, EPA, other state or federal agencies as required
