Marketing Content Specialist.

As a content marketer, you are responsible for providing well-researched content for use in white papers, case studies, blogs, thought leadership articles, product sheets, and multifaceted campaigns, and understand how to position and promote content within the state and federal markets to reach the widest audience and convert prospects to subscribers. Materials can be technical in nature and require strong feature/benefit language. This role also supports other marketing program initiatives, both traditional and digital.

Principal Duties:

  • Generate compelling copy for print, web, video, and social by obtaining product or service information by interviewing, or requesting such information, from necessary parties, including internal and external subject matter experts and clients.
  • Write product fact sheets, brochures, case studies, newsletter articles, advertising, social media, blogs, and other material as requested by the Vertical Marketing Lead or Content Marketing Lead.
  • Maintain and manage project schedules, approvals, and other project-related needs utilizing the Marketing Department’s online project management software.
  • Proofread and edit a variety of copy and ensure brand voice is maintained.
  • Plan and launch new social channel(s) as determined, analysis results, and implement best practices.
  • Ability to adapt tone/message to speak to the target audience.
  • Utilize a metric driven approach to determine which programs are most effective and leverage these learnings to adjust future marketing activity.
  • Work with marketing managers to incorporate content into campaigns.
  • Conduct research for content topics based on industry trends and best practices.

Scope and Impact (Accountability)

The Marketing Content Specialist will have a positive impact on the sales and marketing teams by providing professional, accurate, informative, and well-written content. Prospects, clients, investors, partners, sales, and others will be influenced by or benefit from these materials read online and in print. Content will be generated in an industry appropriate, creative, and timely manner. Professionally written marketing materials raise the profile of the company by projecting a positive and polished corporate and product image.

Complexity

The marketing content specialist must be able to:

  • Be responsive to the marketing needs of the vertical and the sales organization and create new materials as determined or requested.
  • Understand key corporate, business, and product objectives and convey messages that support them in all sales and marketing collateral.
  • Understand customer needs and be able to incorporate a client perspective into communications.
  • Effectively work with subject matter experts across various remote and local departments.
  • Establish priorities and meet deadlines, in conjunction with those set forth by the Vertical Marketing Lead.
  • Handle multiple tasks while paying close attention to details.
  • Stay abreast of industry and marketing best practices, trends, ideas, tools, and technology.
  • Research, organize, and express information in a well-written format.

Education, Experience and Special Skills

  • Minimum of 4-6 years marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong writing skills and related experience are required, including the ability to create impactful marketing messages demonstrated through writing samples
  • Experience in content generation and marketing in the digital space
  • Experience in web services, social media, and digital marketing
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Experience effectively managing a variety of marketing projects and timelines
  • Technology/software industry experience strongly preferred; public sector experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office and Adobe InCopy proficiency preferred
  • An understanding of graphic applications, image/media files, web media/interactive marketing, etc.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to go above and beyond expectations is key to the success of this role
