Manpower Engineering is looking for a

Sustainability Engineer for our client south of the Louisville area. Direct/perm hire.

What you'd be doing:

  • Develop and deploy an organization wide sustainability strategy in support of Company's business goals.
  • Create strategies to make the workplace greener; recycling, avoiding landfill, energy tracking and strategy to reduce energy use, and non-landfill disposal of non-recyclables.
  • Work directly with Development team on implement new ideas and materials that focus on sustainability and recycling
  • Communicate and market sustainability campaigns to internal and external stakeholders, especially customers.
  • Develop, manage and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in support of company's sustainability strategy.
  • Maintains an awareness of external product and process technology, including those of competitors, through external networks (i.e., academia, suppliers, customers, research institutes, etc.), literature study, technical meetings, and conferences.
  • Support productivity improvement and loss elimination initiatives across company's manufacturing facilities. The following areas should be considered: water usage, packaging materials for all company products, ink recycling, ink waste reduction, substrate design and truck loading efficiency.
  • Explore emerging technologies towards reducing environmental footprint; carry out competitive analyses, prepare technical presentations, and document experimental results in report form.
  • Prioritize execution while maintaining focus on goals and objectives across multiple projects.
  • Work closely with the Sales Team to support customers that require sustainability alignment as a supplier.
  • Author a quarterly sustainability update and annual sustainability report
  • Keep track of allied industry associations such as APR, SPC, ISCC and others that relate to our objectives
  • Act as back-up for Product Development Engineers (Film / Print / Packaging).
  • Performs hands-on laboratory experiments to accomplish sustainable goals for the development of new products using good lab practices; uses the lab to run samples and trials and extrapolates findings to determine best solution.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity to ensure the Company remains competitive within the marketplace.

Here's a summary of who we're seeking:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Chemical Engineering or Sustainability.
  • Preferred 5-7 years in experience in manufacturing environment. Will consider recent or new graduates with some relevant experience/internships.
