Position is for ladies - with actual experience with advanced dementia (motor skills involved, walking is slow, eating needs some assistance). Given the nature of the job, other members of the team and the lady's (82) personality/memories as a ballet teacher, APPLICANTS 55+ with no dependents are especially encouraged to apply.
This is a live-in position in Bridgehampton/Sagaponack, NY. Ideal candidate is well-spoken and kind-hearted. Driver's license necessary.
SCOPE: This is for 12hr/day shifts a day. Currently this is a daytime position. Companionship (practical duties/hygiene + soulmate purposes).
The scope of the position involves companionship (conversations, reading the newspaper/books to the lady, watching documentaries she likes the website Masterclass), warming up food (some ability to cook simple meals is appreciated but not necessary), and assistance with getting dressed, everyday tasks and assistance with hygiene in the bathroom, laundry. Caregiver needs to be strong enough to lift 96 pounds (lady's weight) out of the bathtub. (I weigh 118 pounds and so far could do it on my own.)
We are 7 minutes from the beach. Sunny house and ideal working conditions (other than the long working hours - we need someone used to the workload - I currently do the other shift). One cat.
