Kentucky, Louisville 00000 Louisville USA

Westat is currently seeking motivated individuals with a commitment to excellence for the ongoing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The core of NHANES involves in-person household interviews and medical examinations conducted in a mobile examination center (MEC).

The Household Interviewer position requires full-time, continuous travel for 48 weeks a year. Staff travel home only during two project-specified vacation breaks determined by the study schedule.

The Household Interviewer locates and screens households to identify eligible respondents. The interviewer gains cooperation from the respondents and then conducts interviews using a tablet. Interviewers are also responsible for scheduling appointments for MEC exams and collecting environmental samples when required. Interviewers meet with the Study Manager and submit reports according to protocol.

Candidates must:

Be available to attend in-person training March 30 – April 7, 2020; and

Successfully complete web-based training no later than March 23, 2020.

Experience in survey research, outside sales, community/social work, health care, nutrition, teaching, or other professional experience working with the public;

Be available to commit to at least 1 year of full-time continuous travel;

Be available to work 40 hours per week at specified days/times, primarily evenings and weekends, when work is available;

Be able to travel nationally to designated counties for project work, including travel by airplane. Employees needing to travel for project work or training must ensure that they have proper documentation that meets the REAL ID requirements;

Be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations which include lifting and carrying 35 pounds of equipment and materials; walking several blocks; and climbing a flight of stairs while carrying equipment;

Have a valid (current and not suspended) driver’s license that is not under suspension; and

Have regular and reliable access to a high-speed internet connection.

Applicants bilingual in English and Spanish or Asian languages are encouraged to apply.

FULL-TIME CONTINOUS TRAVEL IS REQUIRED with a 1-year minimum commitment.

Any offer of employment may be contingent upon receipt of acceptable results from a post-offer background screening, if required for the specific position, which may include, for example, identity verification, employment history, motor vehicle driving record history, and criminal or sexual offender records history.

This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay. This position is full-time hourly and is initially eligible for health insurance. Additional benefits for this position include performance incentives, two annual paid vacations, ESOP, and 401(k).

While on active travel status in the field, covered expenses for this position include paid lodging with individual room and per diem based on location. Westat will provide transportation between stands and a company-paid rental car for you to drive at the stand.
